Ickx joins calls for Mosley resignationWell-respected former grand prix winner Jacky Ickx has added his voice to calls for FIA president Max Mosley to resign in the wake of the scandal over his private life. With Mosley facing mounting pressure to step down from his role following the allegations made in the News of the World newspaper, evidence of the growing feeling that the situation cannot continue has come with Ickx backing calls for such a move. Speaking to the website of German newspaper Welt, Ickx was quoted as saying: “Regardless of how this story because public, he (Max) cannot continue to represent such an association - even though I regret this, as he was a good president.” Mosley has so far resisted calls to step down from his role, and wrote in a letter to the German motoring federation ADAC last week that he felt he had done nothing wrong. However, with an ever-increasing focus on the events and suggestions that Formula One`s image could be damaged if Mosley does not change his stance, it is likely that pressure on him to make a move will only increase over the next few days. 6.4.2008 ▪ Formula One ▪ www.autosport.com Ickx joins calls for Mosley resignationWell-respected former grand prix winner Jacky Ickx has added his voice to calls for FIA president Max Mosley to resign in the wake of the scandal over his private life.
