How representative is the FIA vote?

We all know that Max Mosley`s future as president of the FIA depends on a vote at the federation`s Extraordinary General Assembly on 3 June. It is also well known that the FIA has 222 members and, according to he FIA`s press release of 3 April, "the full membership of the FIA will be invited to attend the meeting."

However, will this actually happen?

The `Member Clubs` section of the FIA`s website lists RAC Motoring Services, the Automobile Association and the Royal Automobile Club amongst its eight British clubs. On being questioned about its stance on the scandal, Louise Zucchi of RAC Motoring Services said "The RAC will not be attending the EGA. We consider this issue to be between Mr Mosley and the FIA and would not therefore comment on it."

It seems that things are different with the AA, ironically, owned by Formula One owner CVC..

"The AA is a full voting member of the FIA, and it is our intention to attend the EGA, but we are not making any comment at this stage on the matter," says Gavin Hill-Smith of the AA. But it doesn`t stop there.

The Caravan Club, which recently demanded Mosley`s resignation, is also listed on the FIA`s website as being a British member club but, according to the Independent newspaper, it does not expect to get a vote at the EGA.

Short of asking each of the 222 member clubs, there seems little way of working out which ones actually get a vote on the federation`s future.

Perhaps the FIA could shed some light on the matter.
